Is JMP Back? | Julie Marie Portraits, Delaware Wedding Photographer

Yep...JMP is back! You may have noticed that the blog has been pretty quiet for the past two months.  Well, part of the reason is because everybody has had their share of sicknesses, and we've had a lot of visitors....but the main reason is because I had decided that I was taking two months off.  My baby boy turned 11 months old yesterday, and I just feel like these past 11 months of his life have went by way too quickly !  I've really struggled this past year with feeling guilty for not spending every second with my little guy, and I decided that I needed to do something about that guilt!  So....I'm now slowly getting back to work, and you can expect to see some more action on the blog (as well as playing catch-up on the blog from last year's sessions, too)!  JMP has a lot of exciting things going on this year....a Vegas wedding, a Maine wedding, a Florida wedding, a New York wedding, 2 Pittsburgh weddings, Virginia weddings, Delaware weddings and lots & lots of fun kiddos/family sessions already scheduled!

And without further ado....I had the pleasure of meeting this gorgeous couple recently in Dover.  What a great session for me to start back to work with, huh!  Hope you enjoy the photos!  Congratulations to B&C on their engagement and their upcoming wedding on 9.10.11 that will be held in the bride's home state of Nevada!

A Baltimore Bar Mitzvah | Julie Marie Portraits | Baltimore Bar Mitzvah Photographer

Catching up on the blog.....

I was so excited when mom asked me to photograph Mr. A's bar mitzvah this past fall!  I had met this family a year ago at the beach, and fell in love with them.  This family has 4 of the nicest (and handsome, too) boys you could ever meet!  I just love getting to see them.

Anyway, I got to meet up with them on this special day in October.  The bar mitzvah was spectacular.  It was, actually, my first bar mitzvah ever.  It was such a special night for A, and wow....I can't even imagine how proud his mom and dad are of him.  He really is a special guy.  I think the thing that I love most about him is his love for his family....actually, that goes for all of them.  Family means the world to them.  Thank-you so much for allowing me to capture this special day for you and congratulations!

My Crazy Life

Not really crazy....just fun!  This past weekend, my mom, sister, niece and nephew came out to visit.  We had a great time although I was sick, my niece broke out in hives from being sick and taking an antibiotic, my little Jakers continues to have a cold/run a fever and my nephew had numerous coughing spells that resulted in using his breathing machine.....but other than that, I loved every minute with them, and I miss them so much already!  I just hate it when they leave...I know that i'll see them in a little over a month, but to me, it just never gets easier seeing them head back to the airport!

So......so much for trying to get 3 crazy kiddos to cooperate for pictures!  This is what we ended up with!

Hues & Textures Fun Journey | Julie Marie Portraits

I saw some fellow photographers post some images on facebook, and I remembered that Marta Locklear
had started a journey for photographers to join in on to get refreshed from the busy season, the endless hours of editing and sleepless nights just trying to stay on top of everything.  Don't get me wrong....I absolutely love that, but it does take a toll by the end of the year, and I'm always ready for some downtime (& my husband is ready for me to be home too).  So....I decided to jump in on the fun....something that I can do in my own home, on my own time, and I don't even have to leave my baby boy behind to do this.

To start things off...the journey project is on week #8 (i'm really late on getting started with this project), and I'm jumping in on the color {yellow} and the texture {unlimited} week.

And to make this project even more fun....for each hue/texture journey that I do, my twin sister is going to show you how to decorate a room using the colors from the journey project. So go on over to Jennifer V Designs to check out her take on designing a room using this week's color!

Real Life Barbie & Ken! | Washington DC Wedding Photographer | Julie Marie Portraits

I was super lucky to be able to photograph this gorgeous wedding in downtown Washington, DC, and I was able to bring along the fabulous Vida Carson as my second shooter!  The day couldn't have been more perfect.   The bride was absolutely gorgeous, classy and super laid back....she looked like a model out of Vogue.  The groom, looking ever so handsome, was so laid back, too and just so happy to be marrying his beautiful bride.  Anyway, the day was perfect for this real-life Barbie & Ken (they are just that perfect!), and I wish them a lifetime of happiness together!  It's late, so I'm going to be short on words....I think the pictures will tell the story of their day!

Something New | Julie Marie Portraits

I am happy to announce that JMP is now offering photo boxes!

Photo boxes are great because you can just stash your photos in them, and it looks great!  What's great about the photo boxes is that they can be customized with your photos and color coded to match your home.  I always tell myself that I'm going to get organized and put everything in albums but that just never seems to happen. So, now I am going to get organized with customized photo boxes!

The photo box below is one that I created for my little guy.  I plan on doing 1 (or more) photo boxes each year for him.  Photo boxes are also great for putting wedding proofs in, bar/bat mitzvah proofs in, etc...

For more info, just contact me!

The boxes come in 4 different sizes:
4x6-100 prints Image Box
4x6 -250 prints Image Box
5x7-100 prints Image Box
5x7-250 prints Image Box (this is the one that is below & it holds up to 250 5x7 (or smaller) prints)

What To Wear! | Julie Marie Portraits

This family has it going on!  Not only are they a ton of fun, but they definitely know how to dress!  Mom knew that I loved layers, and she knew exactly how to dress this family!  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED their outfits....notice how everything does not match, but yet it all goes together?

Playing Catch Up! | Julie Marie Portraits

I had the pleasure of photographing J's Bat Mitzvah back in October.  The day couldn't have turned out more perfect, and I think the pictures will show you that, too!  I just want to thank the "B" family and Miss J....you guys were so, so kind, and I had the best time photographing J's special day!   Enjoy!
